Deon would then join his mother; René, at Cornwall Refuge Trust, where he would become the sole male assessor and facilitator for the Evolution Project - for rehabilitiating male perpetrators of abuse, and he assisted René with the opening of the first male refuge in Cornwall. In 2014, Deon was awarded the Future Leader Scholarship for science  at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he would go on to complete his BSc in Psychology, with Risk, Insecurity & Terrorism, during which he represented the UK for the World Health Organisation (WHO) at the 2015 Oxford University International Model United Nations, before continuing at Royal Holloway to complete his Masters in Forensic Psychology. During his time at Royal Holloway, Deon became one of the first students to be employed as a Specialist Mentor; supporting students with psychological and social challenges. He also received a national award from CUBO for Residential Assistant of the year 2018, for dedication to supporting students experiencing hardship within university halls of residence. Deon Now supports Noah's Ark Family Project in multiple capacities, including website and online content, service development, and supervision.

Deon has an extensive history of working with adults and children of all ages and across multiple spectrums. In the early 2000's, Deon completed his studies in Sports Development & Fitness; becoming a senior swimming instructor for Truro School Enterprises and basketball coach for Truro & Penwith College and Cornwall's Junior National League squad. However, Deon's early studies in Sports Psychology eventually diverted his interest from sport to the more mainstream psychological issues.
