Animal Assisted Therapy

Therapy Overview:

Based on clinical observations and data from existing studies, research suggest that repeated interaction with a companion animal could have beneficial long-term effects.  The purpose of Animal Assisted Therapy is to strengthen, support and help families interact, bond and live rewarding and healthy lives. At Noah's ark Family Project, we incorporates the benefits of AAT with certain Theraplay® techniques, harnessing the way in which animals can provide social support and the relationship between animals and humans.

Benefits:

Involving animals in  therapy can be beneficial for a number of reasons. For those with an affinity for animals, it can make a nerve-wracking experience easier to manage, while for those who have experienced trauma or are unable to verbalise emotions, working with animals can provide a source of confidence and confidentiality. Animal Assisted Therapy opens new ways of helping people deal with mental health and other disorders that can lead to more positive outcomes and longer-term recovery.
